PHOP

PHOP

Today, I went to Queensbay with my mum and my eldest sis. My sis decided to bring us to Paddington House of Pancakes for lunch. It is my first try, so does my mum. They have a wide variety of mouth-watering pancakes in their menu, from starter to main course to dessert. My immediate response when I browse the menu was I would really like to order each of the pancakes listed there. I really had a hard time making up my mind on which one to order as there are so many choices.

In the end, three of us opt for the new promotion that they have just launched past 2 weeks, PHOP's Around-The-World Set Lunch. I forgot the name of the pancakes (main course) they do offered in the set lunch but it come with a free beverage and a special dessert, PHOP's mini dollar pancake sundae. All these are available for only RM13.80++ per set and it is only available during weekdays from 12 - 3 pm. *I am sorry about this post with no photos because I forgot to recharge my camera's battery. Ugh!!*

I'm amazed by how you can do so much with a simple pancake by adding a twist to it. I guess it's time for some kitchen experiment on this. Overall, a thumbs up!

And I can't wait to savor on more of their pancakes on the next trip with my baby.

My Japs Friends

I have a wonderful, amazing sweet Japanese friends! Never regret the chance of getting to know them as they really plays a part in colouring my life. I hope they would stumble across my blog and read this post, realizing how much I miss them and reminisce those moments that we shared!! I'm glad that all of us get along very well.

I miss my flatmate, Akemi who is a good cook & typically has no temper at all. *I'm serious about the temper thingy* She's just like a sister to me. And my sweet babe Ayumi. Of course Yuki, Hanae, Kyoko, Yumi, Nagisa & Makiko too. They too, are totally like Akemi who shows no temper tantrums in spite of what situations they are facing. They are just so..... calm.

Does all Japanese are trained to be free from temper tantrums?? I wonder how they do that. I guess they really do have a high tolerance level than any of us here.

Fettes Park Baptist Kindy's Concert

A couple of weeks ago, Fettes Park Baptist Kindergarten organized a kindy's concert. I volunteered to be as a helper for the concert. Prior to the concert, I was asked to help to guide the kids in their schoolwork (one of the class) for few days as a chance to get to know the kids and vice versa. It was definitely a few days which I enjoyed! My baby offered his service to be a traffic warden to ease the traffic outside the church on the day of the concert itself as there will be lots of parents showing up to watch their kids performing.

Basically I was there to lend a hand in changing their costumes, tie their hair and applying make-up for the kids. At the same time, I had fun playing with the kids. Though they might be naughty at times and some are uncontrollable *headache*, yet they still look adorable.

A few are my favorite ones.

My baby definitely agree with me that this girl is the most adorable.

Overall, FPBK put up an amazing concert and I can see that all the parents are enjoying the performance and so do I. I bet the parents are surely proud of their children as the kids really did a great job!

I think I would like to be a kindergarten teacher when I am retired from my working world for I believe with kids around, it creates a healthy work environment as you get to be a part of their world of innocence and purity. Besides that, you get a chance to laugh with them, think their way and enjoy their "innocently silly and healthy mischievous' behavior". I trust that this could serves as an effective stress buster! Don't you agree??

Happy 2nd Anniversary My Babykia!!

October 15th 2009 marked our two years of being together as a couple. Instead of the usual ways such as having a romantique candlelight dinner at some enlisted fancy restaurant filled with good food or wine or going for a romantic getaway for the weekend or giving a romantic surprise gift to each other, we decided to celebrate our anniversary in a very different manner by having a food feast at Gurney Drive.

We ordered Asam Laksa, Muar Chee, See Kua Ting, Fried Lok-Lok, Soy Bean while we save the best for the last - Rojak as our dessert. We managed to feast on all these mouth-watering food with the cost of only RM20+. Cheap and fulfilling yet we enjoy it to much extent and loving every moment of it!

I know it may not be the ideal way of celebrating one's anniversary for some women, but I think one need not always have an expensive taste to make your anniversary special. Sometimes we can use romantic and inexpensive ideas for an anniversary to celebrate all these years of togetherness.

In my personal viewpoint, what is right for your anniversary is totally up to you regardless of how you celebrate. An anniversary celebration is one of love and togetherness, a time to honor the love that you both share. I don't mean that anniversary is the only time to honor your blooming love, as everyday is a time to rejoice and commemorate the hills and valleys that you both have quell in your love's journey. But anniversary celebration obviously play some important milestone in your relationship as it profess your allegiance to your partner as well as allows both of you to have a glimpse into the future and a look back into the past.

As you come up with ways to make your anniversary special in any way you can, always remember the most important thing....... enjoy each other's company!!

Dining at Vintage Bulgaria

Past few weeks ago, my friends (Leng & Jay) invited me and my baby to have dinner at Ingolf. Unfortunately, Ingolf was full so we gotta find some other restaurant to dine. Just a couple of shops away, there was this Bulgarian restaurant. So, we decided to dine there since we never even been to that restaurant even though we passed there so many times.

I actually loves the atmosphere and surrounding as it is really cosy with the warm lighting. And the basement area reminiscent of a Bulgarian cottage. We were seated at the basement area as it is a non-smoking area.

Upon browsing the menu, we do not know what to expect since we were really new to the Bulgarian food. Me and baby decided to ordered "Chicken Stroganov" and Jay ordered some pork ribs which actually turned out really tasty while Leng ordered a basket of potato wedges which only cost RM5.00. Cheap huh!! We ordered the wedges as well in the end. Couldn't resist the temptation.

Perhaps on the next trip, I would opt to try something more unique.

Homemade Cake

I have made a homemade marble cake for the youth cellgroup last Friday, since it was my baby's turn to bring some food. He's out of idea on what to bring so I have suggested to him why not a homemade cake since I felt a compelling urge to bake one. In another way, I get to sharpen my skills in making cakes to perfections. Who knows, I might own a homemade cake business in the near future. Whoa... a boss!!

IMG_4775

Anyway, this is not my first time baking cakes. But this is my first attempt in making a marble cake. Surprisingly, at the end of the day, I got a nice marble cake as it is nicely moist with a light-pound cake texture, considering this is my first. (not the appearance of the top layer because I'm still learning how to swirl the choco into a better design & should have add more choco to make it darker)

IMG_4781

I've considered this a success for my first attempt but it will be a process of trial and error to bake the perfect cake. Plain as it may look, the result of this marble cake is most satisfying as my baby & some of them told me that it actually tasted good. *happy*
Guess I gotta keep on experimenting.

What's next?? Angel food cake, jellies..?? What says you??
